Dental Veneers 101

Aesthetic imperfections can put a real damper on your confidence. Porcelain veneers are a great way to upgrade your smile. Traditional veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are affixed to your teeth. They’re strong, long lasting, and can be cared for in the exact same way you care for your natural teeth. The veneers procedure is simple: after designing and creating your custom-made veneers, we remove a small amount of enamel from your natural teeth and then bond them using a special cement. Porcelain veneers, if well cared for, can last anywhere from 10 to 15 years or longer. All in all, you can enjoy your new smile in about two to three visits. Routine checkups and cleanings every six months are still recommended to ensure that your natural teeth are still healthy and functioning properly.

Put Your Best Smile Forward

The state of your smile is one of the first things people notice about you and can affect the way you live your life. Don’t let your smile get in between you and your best self. The top four benefits of a healthy, beautiful smile include:

One: Self-Confidence Booster. Getting the smile you’ve always dreamed of having can help restore your confidence in yourself. Don’t settle for closed-mouth smiles anymore. Smile brightly for the whole world to see thanks to porcelain veneers.

Two: Land That Job. Did you know having a beautiful smile can actually help you ace your job interview? Not only do you feel more self-assured, but no one can resist a contagious smile.

Three: Take Some Years Off. If you’ve been looking for a way to bring some youth back to your appearance, porcelain veneers are a great way to rewind the clock and bring back the smile you used to know and love. Aging doesn’t mean you have to feel or look older anymore!

Four: Find Someone To Smile With. A head-turning smile can help you find that special someone to share your life with. Every “I do” starts with a smile. Your life is waiting for you. What are you waiting for?

Veneers FAQs

What’s the veneer procedure like?

Once we decide that veneers are the perfect cosmetic option for you, we’ll prepare your teeth by removing a thin layer of enamel. This step is required to ensure that your veneers sit nicely next to your existing teeth and don’t look bulky or oversized. Then, we’ll take impressions of your teeth and send them off to a skilled lab where they will fabricate your custom porcelain veneers. When we get them back in, we’ll bond them to your teeth and ensure that they look and feel great!

What can I eat with my veneers?

One of the benefits of veneers is that you can treat them like you would your natural teeth. That means that you can eat and drink everything you enjoyed before you got veneers. However, it’s important to note that, much like natural teeth, veneers can potentially chip if you’re eating hard foods like ice or opening packages with your teeth.

What makes porcelain veneers different from other kinds of veneers?

The main difference between traditional porcelain veneers and other types of veneers, like CEREC® veneers and Lumineers®, is mostly the process of getting them. CEREC veneers and Lumineers take a shorter amount of time to create and Lumineers don’t require any enamel removal. When you visit us for a consultation, we’d be happy to dive deeper into the different types of veneers to help you make a well-informed decision.
