Dr. Boerema dentist in Eden Prairie

Dr. Cole Boerema

General Dentist

I grew up near Ann Arbor, Michigan, where I attended the University of Michigan and met my wife Meg (a real Minnesotan). In a love story as old as time, the Minnesota girl convinced the Michigander to relocate and put down roots in Minnesota. I graduated from the University of Minnesota Dental School and committed to practicing in Minnesota long-term.

Throughout my career as a general dentist, I have participated in a variety of continuing education courses, clubs, and mentorships. Every dentist has their own unique skills, and learning from other doctors is always an enjoyable experience.

Like all of the dentists at PDG, I believe in a lifetime care approach to dental care. This is a philosophy that addresses the foundation of problems to prevent future issues, and plans treatment with the end-goal in mind. We believe that committing to conducting a thorough assessment, clear communication, and simple, organized treatment planning set us apart from the average dental office.

Taking the time to understand each patient's individual values and preferences allows us to offer care that is catered to each individual, whether it be simple or complex.

Most of my time away from the office is spent in Dad-mode. Meg and I have three young kids who are busy with a number of activities around town. We love to get the kids involved in outdoor activities, hiking, sports, travel, and are in the process of handing down our University of Michigan sports fanhood to the youngsters.

When I can, I still love to sneak in a round of golf. I have found that as my family and dental experience grow, my golf skill proportionally decreases. I have shot one hole in one, and have broken one window on the golf course. I consider this fact a sad but accurate snapshot of my golfing ability, and I have no current plans to pursue professional play.

Dr. Engelbrekston

Dr. Erik Engelbrektson

General Dentist

Dr. Engelbrektson was born in Fargo, ND. He attended the University of Minnesota, obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree in Genetics. Dr. Engelbrektson moved to Boston, where he completed his Doctor of Dental Medicine at Boston University. After dental school, Dr. Engelbrektson served for five years in the United States Navy. He completed his General Practice Residency at Naval Medical Center, San Diego. Following residency, he served two years aboard the USS Frank Cable in Guam and two years at Marine Corps Air Station, Miramar. He returned to Minnesota and practiced in a large group practice prior to joining Prairie Dental Group. He then completed an extensive implant placement course at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine.

Dr. Engelbrektson is committed to serving each patient with gentle, individualized care. He believes dentistry is both a science and an art. He enjoys practicing all aspects of general dentistry, with a strong interest in digital dentistry, oral surgery, and endodontics. He is dedicated to improving his knowledge and skills through continuing dental education and is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.

Dr. Engelbrektson and his wife, Bridget, live in Southwest Minneapolis along with their three children. He enjoys spending time on the water with his family, scuba diving, traveling, and running with his dog, Archer.

Eden Prairie dentist Dr. Watson

Dr. James Watson

General Dentist

Dr. Watson is a native of Rochester, MN. After graduating summa cum laude from the University of St. Thomas with a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry, he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Nebraska. Dr. Watson furthered his dental education by entering an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. This program provided him advanced training in fixed (crown & bridge), removable (dentures), and implant dentistry. He is an active member of the Spear Comprehensive Dentistry Study Club.

Dr. Watson is a fourth generation dentist following the footsteps of his great-grandpa, grandpa, and aunt. His mother is a retired dental hygienist. Growing up surrounded by dentistry has taught Dr. Watson the importance of patient relationships. He strives to learn the desires of each patient and tailor his treatment to meet their unique needs so that they may keep all of their teeth for a lifetime.

When away from the office, Dr. Watson can be found bike riding, hiking, skiing, and wakeboarding. You may also find him attempting to play golf. Unfortunately, he has not been blessed with the Watson golf genes; they apparently all went to Tom and Bubba. He is also an avid Nebraska Cornhusker Football fan. Go Big Red!

Dr. Watson is the “middle” child of a medical family. His oldest sister Jennifer is a veterinarian in Rochester. His sister Michelle is an optometrist at Hennepin Healthcare in Minneapolis. Lastly, his identical twin brother is an ophthalmologist in St. Louis, MO.
