Dr. Judson Heitner
Dr. Heitner was raised in Wells, Minnesota. Dr. Heitner graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1980 with a B.A. degree in chemistry. He studied dentistry at the University of Minnesota where he received a D.D.S. degree in 1984. Dr. Heitner continued at the U of M, first as a resident in the Advanced General Practice Residency program through 1985, and then as a part time instructor there until 1989. He has continued his education by completing courses in infection control, CPR certification, cosmetic and restorative dentistry, occlusion, TMJ therapy, dental implants and more. Dr. Heitner is a member of the West Suburban Study Club and the Twin Cities Periodontics Study Club. He has attended the Center for Advanced Dental Study in St. Petersburg, Florida and completed training at the Great Lakes Education Center in the advanced technology of CAD/CAM (Cerec) dentistry for one-visit restorations and crowns. In 2011, he has also studied dental implantology at J.W. Goethe Universitat in Frankfurt, Germany. Dr. Heitner is a member of the American Dental Association, the Minneapolis District Society and the Minnesota Dental Association, where he currently serves on the Scientific Sessions Committee.
Dr. Judd and his wife, Tracy, live in Eden Prairie. They have three children and enjoy golfing, fishing and skiing.
Dr. Benjamin Fenger
Dr. Fenger grew up in Faribault, Minnesota. He attended Minnesota State University, Mankato, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in biochemistry and a Bachelor of Science degree in human biology. Dr. Fenger worked as a chemist for two years before attending the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, where he earned his DDS degree. After dental school, he completed an additional year of dental training in Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. Dr. Fenger then served two years as an air force dentist at Grand Forks Air Force Base in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He is a member of the ADA, MDA, AGD and West Suburban Study Club. Continuing his education, he has completed courses in infection control, CPR certification, advanced cardiac life support, cosmetic dentistry, oral surgery, dental implants, CAD/CAM dental restorations, endodontics and more. He has attended the Center for Advanced Dental Study in St. Petersburg, Florida. Dr. Fenger is board certified to administer conscious intravenous sedation.
Dr. Jeffrey Moos
Dr. Moos grew up in Eden Prairie. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison in 2002. He then attended the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, completing the D.D.S. program in 2006. Dr. Moos served three years in the United States Navy where he was stationed at the Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, in North Carolina. While there, he completed a one year Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency program in 2007. Dr. Moos has also attended continuing education courses in orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics, advanced esthetic dentistry, endodontics, and more. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Minnesota Dental Association, the Spear Comprehensive Dentistry Study Club and the West Suburban Study Club. He also studied at the Spear Education Center for Advanced Dentistry in Scottsdale, Arizona. Dr. Moos enjoys many aspects of dentistry; however the most rewarding are the personal relationships he develops with his patients and staff. He has a passion for providing the finest and most up-to-date treatment and therapy that dentistry has to offer.
Dr. Moos and his wife, Alyssa, live with their 3 children in Eden Prairie. His personal interests include camping, running, biking, spending time with family and cross country skiing with his Siberian Husky. He and his wife also enjoy traveling locally and abroad.
Dr. Jennifer Bertrand
Prior to administering any treatment, Dr. Bertrand makes it a point to provide patients with an opportunity to voice their questions and concerns. Her personable approach to dentistry and strong desire to get to know her patients on a more personal level helps to create a comfortable and pleasant dental experience.
Born and raised in Rochester, MN, Dr. Bertrand attended the University of Minnesota where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in biology. She later returned to her alma mater to complete her Doctorate of Dental Surgery. To ensure her patients receive the highest caliber of care and to further her education, Dr. Bertrand has pursued further coursework in esthetic dentistry, implants, occlusion, and dentures. She continues to study with the Spear Institute for Advanced Dental Education, and works closely with local dental specialists when needed to ensure the best treatment outcome possible.
Before joining Prairie Dental Group, Dr. Bertrand, spent two years practicing with a group dental clinic in the north metro. She is an active member of the Seattle Southside Comprehensive Study Club, ADA, and has served on the Evidence-Based Dentistry task force for the Minnesota Dental Association.
Dr. Bertrand loves spending time “up north” fishing, snowmobiling, or simply relaxing at her family’s cabin in Wisconsin. She also enjoys running, cycling with her husband, Dan, and playing the piano.
Dr. Cole Boerema
Dr. Boerema is a native Michigander, growing up near Ann Arbor, Michigan. After attending college at the University of Michigan, Cole and his wife Meg (a real Minnesotan) moved to Minnesota. Cole then completed his dental degree at the University of Minnesota. During his career as a general dentist, Dr. Boerema has participated in a variety of continuing education courses, clubs, and mentorships.
Gaining personal relationships with patients and being able to take care of them over the years is something Dr. Boerema considers an honor. Patient comfort and patient education are important factors in Dr. Boerema's treatment. He believes in conservative treatment that incorporates the patient's input, values, and philosophies.
Cole and his wife are frequent visitors to the bike trails, lakes, and coffee shops around the Twin Cities. The Boeremas have one son, and a Bernese Mountain Dog named Holmes. Dr. Boerema has recorded one hole-in-one, which he unfortunately does not consider an accurate reflection of his golfing ability.
Dr. Mary Philp
Dr. Mary Philp earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English and American Literature at New York University in 2005. She pursued her passion for dentistry at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, graduating in 2011, and then completed an advanced education in the General Practice Residency at the University of Minnesota in 2012.
Dr. Philp is committed to treating each person with individualized care aimed at achieving long-term health and happiness. She is a member of the Kois Center for continuing education in Seattle, Washington, and attends continuing education courses both locally and nationally to ensure she can offer her patients the most up-to-date techniques. Dr. Philp offers services in all areas of dentistry with a focus on contemporary and esthetic dentistry, including direct bonding and indirect ceramic restorations, implant restorations, veneers, and crown and bridge. She also loves seeing kids! Dr. Philp believes that the best dentistry is often achieved with a team approach involving dental specialists, and she maintains great working relationships with specialists in the area to ensure convenience and the highest quality of care for her patients. She is a member of the Minnesota Dental Association, Minneapolis District Dental Society, American Dental Association, and Academy of General Dentistry. She is an active member of the local Spear Comprehensive Dentistry Study Club. She also serves as a volunteer dentist at the Union Gospel Mission Dental Clinic in St. Paul, MN.
Dr. Philp enjoys getting to know her patients with each visit to better understand personal motivations, outlooks and goals. Patient comfort is a top priority. When she’s not at the office, Dr. Philp and her husband share their passion for the outdoors with their two children and can usually be found gardening, walking the trails, or making their own maple syrup.
Dr. Michael Sutley
Dr. Sutley received his B.S. degree from Loyola University in 1968. He graduated with his D.D.S. degree from Loyola University in 1972 and completed the Washington University Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Program in 1980. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Minnesota Dental Association and the Minneapolis District Dental Society. His continuing education has included courses in Advanced Surgical Concepts, General Anesthesia, Advanced Life Support, Implant Surgery and more.
Dr. Katherine Smith
While originally from Sioux Falls, SD, Dr. Katie Smith came to the Twin Cities for college and completed her undergradute studies in Biochemistry and Spanish at the University of St. Thomas. From There, she moved to Iowa City, where she recieved both dental degrees as well as her post-doctoral degree in Periodontics at the University of Iowa- College of Dentistry and Dental Clinics. While in her residency, Katie also completed a Master's degree with her research project investigating the possible link between obesity and peri-implantitis.
Growing up with a dad who is also a dentist, Katie knew from an early age she wanted to pursue a dental career. With dentistry, Katie gets to have the time and energy to devote to her family while still pursuing her passion to serve and care for others. Katie was drawn to Periodontics because of her love for the surgical and artistic aspect of it, as well as the fact that it is very evidence-based. Katie is very passionate about educating patients and helping them to improve their oral and systemic health.
Katie is experienced in emerging technologies as they apply to periodontal management and impant dentistry. She particularly loves placing dental implants, esthetic crown lengthening procedures, gingival grafting, and surgically accelerated orthodontic cases. Katie is an active member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Periodontology, Midwest Society of Periodontology, and participates in as many continuiing education courses as possible.
Outside of the office, Katie enjoys spending time with her husband (and Tommie sweetheart), Ian, daughter, Eva, and Shi-Tzu dog, Captain. They enjoy biking, going on family walks, and traveling to visit family and friends. Katie also loves to cook and read, when time allows!
